How Much Do Advisors Know About Islam?
Wednesday, July 14, 2010
IN AN ARTICLE entitled, Obama Cleanses the Terrorism Glossary, writer Rowan Scarborough quotes John Brennan saying, "Nor do we describe our enemy as jihadists or Islamists because jihad is holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam meaning to purify oneself of one's community."
Hopefully you know better. But if not, here are the facts: "The Hadith of Bukhari gives all of the tactical details of jihad. A simple counting method shows that 3% of the hadiths are about the inner struggle, whereas, 97% of the hadiths are about jihad as war. So is jihad the inner struggle? Yes, 3%. Is jihad the war against kafirs? Yes, 97%." Source: Interesting Facts About Islamic Doctrine.
This is amazing. Brennan is the President's closest advisor on homeland security and COUNTER-TERRORISM! He knows nothing about Islam! This is truly astonishing. A ten year-old kid looking into the subject for three days could easily learn enough about Islam to know that Brennan is ignorant of some of the most basic principles of Islam.
The article goes on:
"Brennan cleanses Muslim cleric Anwar Awlaki, the American in Yemen who encourages murder, of any tie to Islam."
"'Individuals like Anwar Awlaki, who recently released a video, demonstrated that his rhetoric is anything but peaceful,' Brennan said. 'It's anything but Islamic. It is dedicated to murder and lashing out.'"
Brennan was a long-time CIA analyst. You would think he would know better. So either he is lying, which is kind of scary, or he really has no clue, which is really scary.
"It is dedicated to murder and lashing out," therefore it is NOT Islamic? What part of "kill them wherever you find them" don't you understand?
That's from the Quran (2.191): "And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers."
He wouldn't have to even read the Quran, although in his position as counter-terrorist advisor, you would think that would be the obvious first step. He could just look at the news. He wouldn't even have to do that. He could look at thereligionofpeace.com for five minutes to get an inkling that perhaps Muslim violence might have something to do with Islam.
